Man arrested after brick thrown at Tommy Robinson’s campaign van

‘A man has been arrested after Tommy Robinson’s campaign van was bricked ahead of his rally on a housing estate. The former EDL leader is touring the north-west of England with a digital advertising van displaying a huge picture of his grinning face. It seems someone didn’t take a liking to it turning up in Preston and launched a brick at it.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Constabulary confirmed a man had been arrested. She told ‘A 36-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and given an adult caution.’ Robinson told his tens of thousands of followers on Telegram – one of the few social media platforms where he’s not banned – about the incident.

He said: ‘We’re in Preston and now our screen has been bricked in a housing estate.’ Several right wing figures have been targeted on the European campaign trail. Yesterday, Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage was doused in milkshake as he was walking around Newcastle. Covering pro-Brexit politicians in milkshake began when Robinson was hit twice in two days earlier this month. Robinson was first soaked on the streets of Bury, Greater Manchester, when he was hit with the long-range shot. A day later in Warrington, Cheshire, he was hit again, leaving his face and blazer covered in strawberry shake. Ukip candidate Carl Benjamin, who joked about raping an MP, was doused in milkshake for the fourth time on Sunday while out and about in Salisbury.’
