‘Callous thieves have ransacked a food bank that serves up to 100 people every day.
From The Daily Mail-
Food, clothing, children’s toys and presents were stolen from The Rock Foundation Food Bank in Grimsby, in the early hours of Sunday.
The thieves then defecated on the floor of the building, which has now been broken into twice in just three months.
The thieves ‘completely ransacked’ the building as they looked for valuable items
Pam Hodge, who runs the Rock Foundation, said only the ‘lowest of the low’ could break into a food bank that helps the most vulnerable people in the community
They tore out the drawers of filing cabinets and went through cupboards in a bid to find valuables
The thieves gained access by smashing through the window of a fire escape before emptying filing cabinets, cupboards, store rooms and fridges.
In March, robbers turned off all of the freezers inside the building, causing all the food to go off.
Pam Hodge, who runs the Rock Foundation, said she was ‘devastated and disgusted’, adding only the ‘lowest of the low’ could break into a food bank that helps the most vulnerable people in the community.
Ms Hodge said: ‘I received a phone call from the council at 4.30am this morning telling me that the alarm was going off inside the food bank.
‘When I got down here I found the most disgusting sight, thieves have broken in and completely ransacked the whole building.
‘They have raided our cupboards, our fridges and our freezers, taking food, coffee and even children’s toys and presents that we collect for families who are struggling.
‘It looks like they have broken in through a fire escape window, and proceeded to take as many things as they could. It looks like they have been filling delivery baskets up with food, before passing them outside and putting them in a trolley.
‘A number of baskets are still by the fire escape, I am guessing they left them there when the alarm went off.’
This is the second time the building has been targeted – in March, robbers turned off all of the freezers inside the building, causing all the food to go off
The robbers also fled with children’s toys and presents before defecating on the floor

Recently the food bank has been providing support for up to 100 people a day, ranging from young families to the elderly.
Ms Hodge added: ‘The most disgusting thing that they have done is defecate on the floor of the building before leaving.
‘It is only the lowest of the low that could have done something like this, it is just appalling.
‘As a food bank we are helping up to 100 people a day in Grimsby, and we have such a wide mix of people that come and use our services, from young families, asylum seekers, elderly people, those who have just signed up to universal credit and even struggling professionals.
‘We are just devastated by what has happened, as this is the second time in three months that we have been broken into. At least this time they didn’t switch off all the freezers.’
